Luke Gignac Scores Second OSCAAR Modified Feature Victory

On Saturday night at Peterborough Speedway, Luke Gignac put together an amazing night, en route to picking up his second career OSCAAR Modified feature victory.

Gignac started off the night solidly, placing second in his first heat, before winning the second qualifier.

Starting third in the feature, Gignac immediately made his way up to second, challenging Gary Elliott for the top spot through the opening laps. He would slip back a spot to third behind Cory Horner shortly thereafter, following in line. The pair of leaders would then make contact on Lap 13, resulting in them being sent to the rear of the field.

Gignac would inherit the lead, and didn’t look back the rest of the way en route to scoring the victory with a 10-car length lead ahead of the field. It marks his second feature victory of 2017, and notably he has only posted one finish outside of the top-five all year long. The victory also locks him into the pole position for the 25th Annual Autumn Colours Classic in October.

“This team never gives up,” team owner Allen Adams posted on the team’s facebook page. “Can’t thank you guys enough – Luke Gignac,Mike Peach, Cherie Gignac, Dianna Adams and John Dalton. You guy are awesome and (we) could not do this without you.”

The victory also allows him to take over the points lead, three markers ahead of Cory Horner.

ADAMS Motorsports and Gignac will be back in action later on this month on Saturday, August 19 at Sauble Speedway. Earlier this season, Gignac posted a fifth-place finish at the beach.
