Fraserville, Ontario — In his first race back since injuring his thumb in the season opener at Sunset Speedway, Luke Gignac drove a flawless race en route to scoring a fifth-place finish on Friday night at Kawartha Speedway.
Gignac was quick from the first race of the night, finishing second in his qualifying heat to set him up to start seventh for the 40-lap feature later on that night. While he dropped back to eighth in the first three laps, he was able to avoid the multitude of incidents, moving back up to sixth by Lap 6.
He’d break into the top-five on the restart, where he’d remain through the rest of the race en route to a fifth-place finish.
The next race for the OSCAAR Modifieds is at Flamboro Speedway on July 28.
