INNISFIL, Ontario — Running just outside of the top-five throughout the 50-lap event, Luke Gignac scored a top-10 in the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified feature on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Gignac was fast from the beginning of the night, placing fourth in his first heat, followed by a sixth in the second qualifier.
Starting inside the top-10 for the feature, he ran ninth in the early stages, moving up to seventh on Lap 9 when he was able to avoid an incident ahead of him. Restarting inside of the fourth row, he’d battle side-by-side for seventh, ultimately fading back to ninth before the halfway mark of the feature.
He’d drop back another spot to 10th, remaining there until the race’s second caution at Lap 44. Through the final stretch to the checkered, he was able to complete a pair of passes to cross the finish line in eighth, but was credited with seventh following a post-race disqualification.
Gignac will be back in action at Full Throttle Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 6 for the Rick Woolner Memorial.
