Luke Gignac Drives to Front For Top-10 Finish at Delaware Speedway

LONDON, Ontario — Starting deep in the field, Luke Gignac made his way through the field for a top-10 finish on Saturday night at Delaware Speedway.

After finishing seventh in his lone heat, Gignac would be forced to start 13th for the 50-lap feature.

He began to make his way forward immediately, getting alongside Mike Hearty for ninth on Lap 6. He’d continue to move forward, taking over the eighth spot two laps later, ultimately working his way up to seventh by Lap 11. He’d remain there until the race’s first caution at Lap 26, avoiding contact ahead of him to move up to sixth.

Restarting on the outside of the third row, he’d move up to fifth, challenging for the fourth spot with just 11 laps to go. Ultimately, he’d be unable to get by, fading back to sixth at the checkered flag.

Gignac will be back in action at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday, August 24, for the next round of Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified competition. Gignac currently sits fourth in the standings, 19 points behind second.
