Luke Gignac Scores Top-10 Finish at Flamboro Speedway

MILGROVE, Ontario — Despite having to go to the back after an incident, Luke Gignac made his way back to the front for a top-10 finish on Saturday night at Flamboro Speedway.

Gignac started off the night solidly, finishing fourth and second in his pair of qualifying heats.

Starting eighth in the feature, he’d run there solidly through the opening laps, moving up into seventh on an early race restart. He’d get alongside Brad Pearsall for sixth on Lap 10, with the caution coming out a couple laps later for an incident up ahead of him.

The restart would see Gignac battle hard to try and crack the top-five, but would suffer contact with another competitor when they cut down on him, followed by a spin in turn three. As a result, Gignac was sent to the back of the field as an involved car.

Restarting 14th, he’d begin to make his way forward, running eighth as of the scheduled halfway mark. Shortly thereafter, the caution came out for an incident in turn three after fluid was laid down by a fellow competitor.  Between the delay in cleaning up the mess, along with the track’s curfew, it’d be announced under the red flag that the event would be shortened from its scheduled distance of 40 laps to 30 laps.

Restarting on the fourth row, Gignac battled hard through the final 10 laps, ultimately crossing the finish line with a seventh-place finish.

Gignac will be back in action at Sunset Speedway on Saturday September 21, for the next round of Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified competition. Gignac currently sits fourth in the standings, 10 points behind second.
